Account Executive

Job Summary

Teradata is looking to add an Account Executive to support Teradata Business Solution Sales in the Canadian Retail/Healthcare industry in the Greater Toronto Area. The position requires an experienced sales professional with a proven track record in closing complex sales through consultative selling within an established Territory. This role will be responsible for the profitable sale of the Teradata Analytic Solution Portfolio including Cloud solutions, Hadoop, Open Source initiatives, Business & Analytical Consulting Services, Managed Services, Teradata data warehouse software and platforms, Customer Services, and advanced analytics (Graph/text/machine-learning/R) solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve assigned Order and Revenue Quota.

  • Understand the needs, goals and challenges of business functions of each customer.

  • Support the customer to develop their analytical and predictive capabilities with the goal of integrating Teradata solutions and services into the fabric of business decision-making.

  • Continually increase knowledge of the customer’s business (and industry) often serving as the customer’s first line consultant.

  • Engage with senior level/C-Suite customer contacts across all areas of the business on a regular basis

  • Develop and drive business value centric account plans, processes, and strategies that improve results for customers first, while growing the portfolio of Teradata solutions and services.

  • Lead complex multi-dimensional consulting services and data management engagements.

  • Explain complex concepts in non-technical language to a variety of stakeholders.

  • Apply excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills to convey value based messages to the customer and internal team members.

  • Continuous learning about open source and analytical solution trends, strengths and issues.

  • Utilize team members including post-sales delivery professionals, pre-sales technical professionals, and management to achieve business objectives.

  • Develop an internal network of SMEs, stay current on other Teradata customer’s success stories and apply them in specific situations.

  • Use Teradata sales tools to manage customer contacts.

  • Use Teradata sales tools to track opportunities, deal value, estimated close dates and selling phase.

Work Environment

This position is working in a virtual office environment, including home office & customer site. A combination of independent work and team collaboration will be required. Travel is also expected depending on the location of the candidate.

A successful candidate should be driven, creative, a self-starter and strategic thinker. The candidate must possess the ability to lead, advise and advocate for customers. The candidate must also be curious about a customer’s business needs/challenges, new solutions, new technologies, new types of services and have the personal drive to want to explore how they can be applied to a customer. Strong story telling skills is a must. Ability to be a calm but action oriented leader in time sensitive situations.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (Marketing, Sales, Management, Communications)

  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in working complex, multi-million dollar opportunities in major customer organizations within the Retail/Healthcare industry

  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing a large account relationship

  • Knowledge of deployment options like cloud, hardware / appliances, and open source software world (Hadoop), as well as competitive landscape and Retail/HealthCare solution strategies is necessary

  • Quantitative background/proven problem-solving skills

  • Previous experience selling consulting services, business intelligence & analytics solutions

  • Awareness and comprehension of the latest advanced analytics techniques and how they apply to business decisions

  • Must be competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

  • Outstanding presentation skills

  • Proven ability to interact effectively with ‘C’ and VP level executives

  • Must have a valid passport, drivers’ license; be willing to travel within Canada and to travel unrestricted into the United States as required
