Teradata Product Manager - Hadoop/Backup/Recovery (P) in San Diego, California

We are seeking a Product Manager to assist with the expansion of our Hadoop portfolio including complementary software products from our partner organizations. This role will report to the Platform Deployment SOM.The Hadoop product manager will be eager to work with our customers, possess a combination of business and technical acumen, and serve as a subject matter expert for our Sales and Marketing organizations. In addition, the candidate will work closely with Teradata Product Development as well as our existing technology suppliers to define, bring to market and deploy these components in on-premises and cloud based solutions.Primary Responsibilities:• Identify and document our customers’ business needs, challenges and opportunities in managing their Hadoop deployments• Monitor market trends to develop new use cases and identify growth opportunities.• Conduct periodic reviews about business performance and customer adoption, satisfaction and usage.• Work with the Teradata platform product teams to develop and deliver the Hadoop product roadmap to our field and customers.• Conduct product presentation and demonstrations• Assist with the backlog management, grooming and prioritization.• Assist and collaborate with and support sales personnel and partners with sales enablement activities.• Enable the field to sell solutions by providing them with solid training and collateral materials• Communicate with excellence across all levels of the organization• Develop program success metrics and report progress against them.Skills and Attributes:The successful candidate will have:• Knowledge of open source data management technologies, markets and customers.• Experience collaborating with 3rd party suppliers and/or managing vendors.• Experience leading projects, coordinating teams, and managing issues to closure.• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts to management, team members as well as non-technical audiences.• Knowledge of agile software release processes with the ability to apply them to commercial product releases.• Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.• Multitask between projects with shifting priorities.• Ability to take on additional roles and responsibilities as required.• Involves a limited amount of travel (20%).

Basic Qualifications:• US Permanent Residence.• BS in computer science, engineering, business or related discipline.• 5+ years of experience.• Demonstrated understanding of agile development methodologies.Preferred Qualifications:• Masters degree in engineering, computer science, business or related discipline.• Experience with agile software development and support life cycles.• Technical expertise and outstanding business/financial acumen.• Exposure to business practices such as competitive analysis, pricing, and software licensing methodologies.• Prior work with Marketing and Sales teams to design and implement appropriate go-to-market capabilities.• Familiarity with one or more of the following: Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), Hortonworks DataFlow (HDF), Cloudera Distribution for Hadoop (CDH).
