Inside Sales Sales Engineer (IS-SE)
The Inside Sales Sales Engineer is a position that leverages technical knowledge to promote sales and adoption of Teradata Solutions and Services. The Sales Engineer has broad knowledge of the Big Data, data warehouse, data management and analytic space including direct experience with Teradata products and technologies. The Sales Engineer articulates analytical ecosystem architectures and trends and provides technical leadership as a trusted advisor to customers in support of client needs and associated sales activities. The sales engineer establishes and enhances customer relationships ranging from infrastructure owners to CIO to business consumers and provides technical expertise on engagements and identifies new target opportunities within our accounts.
Serves as trusted technical advisor and technical primary point of contact for the client
Drive sales of Teradata products, solutions, and services
Increase use of Teradata systems through value-add opportunities
Demonstrates technical expertise and credibility with customers at all levels of the organization
Understands and advises customers on data ecosystem architectures
Contributes to and executes account plan goals, objectives, strategies and tactics in partnership with sales associates
Works with overall account team to identify sales opportunities
Operate the internal ordering process, from solution sizing, pricing to delivery
Works with technical client contacts who use and administer Teradata, partner and open source technologies to understand how they are used, what data is on them, and how they might be improved
Documents client’s current analytical framework/architecture and organizational data flow
Understands and communicates customer-specific value of Teradata solutions and how they integrate with the customers’ analytical ecosystem.
Manages relationships with client stakeholders as the key advisor on analytic architecture
Creates client interest in Teradata solutions, advancing the sales process
Syncs daily with account team lead to discuss account strategy, tactics and future sales opportunities
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in selling analytic software & services specifically in the database, enterprise software, and/or ecommerce space. Some technical and business knowledge is necessary.
Must be a highly effective communicator, through written and oral presentations to all levels of contacts, internal and external
Inside Sales Experience and proven ability to run a full Sales Cycle Virtually.
Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas
Deep technical understanding of analytic systems
Technical sales / presales experience a plus
Ability to develop customer relationships
Knowledge of the larger competitive landscape
Leadership to drive disparate teams to delivery
Ability to develop and coordinate a cross-functional team environment will be critical to the success of this position
The position will work from our Rancho Bernardo office supporting our Sustained Accounts Team. Up to 25% travel is required, dependent on account responsibilities/activities. Local candidates preferred.
