Responsibilities

Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of Teradata's platform and product drive towards being cloud native. Work with different stakeholders in defining a holistic strategy for operations experience inclusive of packaging, deployment, elasticity, automation, availability, etc. Review and evangelize cloud related technologies, platforms, libraries, and tooling. Partner with engineering teams to guide implementation of services and capabilities that are highly scalable and provide an experiencethat operators and developers love, enabling them to be highly efficient and effective.

Attributes of Successful Candidates

  • Well versed in software methodologies and patterns, as well as the complete software development life cycle;

  • Strong knowledge of internet protocols, web services, API development and high-availability mechanisms;

  • Understands the CAP theorem, different consistency models, and their relative strengths and weaknesses;

  • Proficient writing software for and leveraging the tools in a UNIX/Linux environment;

  • Polyglot programmer comfortable in Go, Node.js, Python, Java and/or C/C++;

  • Deep experience with public cloud platforms and automation tools;

  • Strong understanding of Linux containers and orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, Mesos, Nomad, etc;

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate at all levels from engineering to executive;

  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders and drive alignment, build trust, and foster engagement;

  • Significant experience in working on large scale software systems and platforms;

  • Passion for sharing knowledge and coaching others on how to best leverage technology;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Presents ideas and projects to industry audiences from meet-ups to conferences;

  • Experience with Agile and Test-Driven development methodologies;

  • Master's degree in computer science or relevant experience;

  • 15+ years of hands-on technical architecture and software development experience;

  • 10+ years of software platform and/or framework development experience.
