Teradata Architect Consultant in BEIJING, China


  • Understand the client's business goals, IT plans, and architectures and articulate linkage to the proposed data warehouse architecture and application designs.

  • Design and develop the architecture, roadmap, and standards for the enterprise data warehouse that will align with the customer business and IT objectives.

  • Design and develop a technical architecture for integration of the data warehouse into the client's enterprise.

  • Be a trusted adviser to the client's decision makers by establishing credibility and expertise in data warehouse technology and Teradata's solution offerings.

  • Work with Teradata project managers to scope projects and develop a statement of work, project plan, and risk analysis.

  • Provide technical thought leadership and actively participate in the design, implementation, and roll-out efforts.

  • Make hardware sizing and configuration recommendations.


  • Advanced technical skills including high-volume data warehouse design, ETL tool utilization, SQL programming, Perl scripting, and C/C++ coding

  • Extensive experience with data warehousing concepts including ETL best practices, dimensional modeling and business intelligence support

  • Extensive performance tuning experience in a multi-terabyte relational database environment

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present sophisticated technical concepts to a broad range of individuals

  • Excellent command of software development life cycle activities including analysis, design, development, unit and system testing, and production deployment

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex transactional data into valuable analytical information

  • BS degree in CS or equivalent

  • 6+ years IT experience including 3+ years implementing high availability, large-scale data warehouse systems

  • Significant experience as a technical leader on high productivity development teams, high self-motivation for success in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Travel is required
