The Industry Consultant (IC) leverages knowledge and contacts within a specific industry to promote sales of business and technology solutions from Teradata, Teradata Aster, and Hadoop. The IC has broad knowledge and experience in the industry and specific in depth expertise in particular segments or functional areas of that industry. The IC articulates industry vision and trends, and provides industry knowledge to marketing and sales activities. The IC understands and promotes the business value associated with data warehouse applications, big data analytics, business intelligence, and advanced analytics. The IC establishes or enhances executive level relationships, provides subject matter expertise on engagements, and identifies new target opportunities emerging within the industry. The IC will be expected to deliver high-level client billable consulting to our targeted accounts and oversee the development of the client engagement model for additional services. The IC will capture customer use cases and share industry related knowledge within Teradata. The IC plays an active role in pre-sale and post-sale activity, ensuring a long term partnership with Teradata clients. The Industry Consultant may be the Project Tech Lead on a project.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Collaborates with Area and Regional sales teams to develop sales strategies and drive sales and delivery of Teradata, Teradata Aster, and Hadoop.
Provide and develop content for RFI/RFP responses and sales proposals.
Understands the customer’s business, company profile, business plans, and key initiatives.
Matching the customer’s business needs and requirements to Teradata, Teradata Aster, and Hadoop applications, solutions, and services.
Provides subject matter expertise on client engagements through deep industry knowledge and experience.
Scopes, develops, and proposes business opportunity plans for evolving enterprise data warehouses and Big Data environments with Teradata prospects and clients.
Develops reusable assets for customer engagements and to share knowledge within Teradata.
Mentors Teradata consultants on engagements to infuse industry knowledge into their specific technical consulting or business consulting expertise.
Provides thought leadership on Unified Data Architecture and data warehousing in their designated industry and becomes a spokesperson and subject matter expert in articulating the Teradata Unified Data Architecture value to external audiences – including Teradata Data Warehouse, Teradata Aster, and Hadoop.
· In depth knowledge and business consulting experience of the industry or domain.· Clear leadership skills· Experience using data with advanced analytics, business intelligence, data warehouse applications, and big data analytics to improve business performance.· Can successfully identify new business opportunities and respond to them.· Experienced using Business Processes, Business Process Modeling, Business Metrics, and best practices to drive customer success.· Experienced with performing Business Impact Modeling to measure the business impact of new technology across the client’s organization.· Knowledge of Teradata Architecture Principles, Advocated Positions, Design Patterns, and Implementation Alternatives.· Understanding of the Teradata Reference Information Architecture· Exceptional consulting skills in communicating, establishing of strategic direction, influencing others, negotiating skills, operational decision making, problem solving, facilitating and managing meetings, and questioning and probing.· Highly skilled in organizational politics, value proposition development, solution selling, focusing on the customer, sales ability / persuasiveness, and business needs analysis.· Able to clearly and succinctly present industry trends, data warehousing, and big data solutions to diverse audiences including media.
